With a family to support, rent to pay, equipment to purchase and not enough custom furniture sales to pay for anything, I started making small woodcraft items to sell at craft fairs, on public streets and any other place where I was allowed to show my work. The concept was to offer well-crafted smaller pieces directly to the public. It was a brutal 10-year lifestyle, but the concept worked. Eventually, craft galleries and high-end stores also bought work directly from my displays.

Throughout the 1970's Dean Santner's shop made thousands of pieces, some of which ended up in museums and other significant collections. Dean is delighted to report that many of these small woodcraft pieces are now being sold for substantial prices on the auction markets. It's always a joy to hear from customers who supported me with their purchases throughout the years.
